Steps to Successfully Update Your Certified Application

Use the information below to guide your certified application update and ensure you're ready for consideration.

    Application Update Checklist
Start by reviewing the Certified Application Update Checklist to help you complete each part of the process with confidence.

    Job Pool Selection
Boise School District uses a content-area, pool-based hiring system for certified positions.

To be considered for openings, you must select the appropriate job pool(s) in your application that align with your current endorsement(s).

Only select the pools you’re qualified for and truly interested in.

Important: You cannot apply directly to specific postings. Please do not contact principals or administrators regarding openings. Once your application is complete and screened, you’ll automatically be considered for vacancies that match your qualifications—even if the posting says "In-District or Screened."

    Certification Details
Check the Certification/Licensure section of your application to ensure your credential expiration date is accurate.

Note: If you're a student teacher or working toward a non-traditional certification (such as ABCTE), select your program in place of an expiration date. You may view the Idaho Department of Education site for additional information about a non-traditional route toward Idaho certification.

    • American Board of Certification for Teacher Excellence (ABCTE) - must have the Passport to teaching certificate

    • College of Southern Idaho (CSI) - requires a letter from the institution

    • Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC) - requires a letter from the institution

    • Teach for America (TFA)

    Finalize and Submit
Review every section of your application for accuracy and make any needed updates, including contact information, work history, credentials, background check, and references.

We recommend using a personal email address instead of a college email to ensure continued access.

Once complete, be sure to submit your application.

    Review or Update Documents
Ensure that any documents associated with your application, such as certifications or your resume, are up to date.

    To review or upload documents:

    • Log in to your Application WorkSpace

    • Click “Manage Documents” in the right-hand column

    • Review your existing documents and upload updates if needed

    Uploading and Managing Required Documents

To ensure your certified application is complete and ready for review, all required documents must be uploaded through the Supporting Documents section of your application.

    The following documents are required:

    • Certification(s): Include valid in-state and/or out-of-state teaching credentials

    • Praxis or Highly Qualified Documentation: This may include HOUSSE Rubric, ABCTE certification, or Praxis II scores

    • Confidential Reference Forms: At least three current electronic references are required as part of your application

    • Updated Resume: A cover letter is not required

    • Transcripts: Unofficial transcripts are accepted; please include transcripts for all colleges attended

    Important: Avoid uploading duplicate documents.

    Selected Applicants

This includes completing an FBI Criminal Background Check, which requires fingerprinting and a fee of $32.00—unless you’ve had a fingerprint-based background check through the Idaho Department of Education within the past six months.

Substitutes applying for certified roles must also complete five online Certified Substitute Training Modules via the Vector Training platform (approximately 72 minutes), unless they hold a current valid teaching certificate. Details about this training will be provided during onboarding.
