Basic Life Insurance is an important part of your employee benefits package. It provides financial protection for your loved ones in the event of your death and can help cover final expenses, outstanding debts, or other immediate financial needs. This coverage also includes Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, offering additional benefits if your death or serious injury is caused by an accident. 

Coverage Provided by the District
Boise School District provides Basic Term Life and AD&D insurance to eligible employees through New York Life. In addition to employee coverage, the District also provides Basic Term Life insurance for the spouse and dependent children of eligible employees.

This benefit helps ensure that both you and your family have a basic level of financial protection in place—without any cost to you.

  • This employer-paid benefit provides the following Basic Life Insurance coverage:

    • $50,000 in coverage for the employee,
    • Up to $5,000 for the employee’s spouse, and
    • Up to $3,000 for the employee’s unmarried child(ren) under age 26
      • A child from live birth to 26 years old;
      • A child who is 26 or more years old, primarily supported by you and incapable of self-sustaining employment by reason of mental or physical handicap.

    This employer-paid benefit also provides employees with $50,000 in Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance coverage.

  • Boise School District provides Basic Term Life and AD&D insurance at no cost to eligible employees through New York Life. In addition to employee coverage, the District also provides Basic Term Life insurance at no cost for the spouse and dependent children of eligible employees.
